It was IAS night!

spam

Update: The event reported on below did NOT include Pretoria Org. It was a combined Joburg, Joburg North event. Pretoria will be having their “Call to Freedom” IAS event this coming Saturday in the org.

In the lead up to last weekends IAS event we posted the recently produced song for the IAS. It’s IAS night!

That event was held last weekend at the Kyalami Castle where that video made it’s official debut. The castle is the home of the future Advanced Org which may or may not open in 2015. It is probably important to note at this point that the “African AO” has been a dangling carrot for 30 years without a single official OT level delivered. Yet, we are hearing of greater numbers on the OT levels right now throughout the country which has not required a large building or impossible “have to haves”.

We wondering if everyone made it to the event ok since it’s final directional sign fell of and it not doing much to direct anyone. Propped up against a wall pointing the wrong way.

Castle

The event last Saturday night was the maiden voyage IAS event and was combined with Joburg, Joburg North and Pretoria Orgs. That’s two Ideal Org (Joburg & Pretoria). Around 300 people attended. As is the practice with fund raising events it had a theme. Of course being at the Castle the theme had to be “knights”. David Lipsitz & Albert de Beer along with Cameron Wade were there to oblige being dressed in knight outfits.

Most remarkably R650,000 was raised for the IAS. At least this is the pledged amount, it remains to be seen how much of that will be collected as people wake up to buyers remorse.

With 300 people in attendance and being able to report a figure of R650K to report to the IAS is enough for those still on the inside to believe that their mission is very on track.

  1. I don’t know exactly where the castle is in relation to the race track, but the Kyalami race track is being auctioned in two days time… Does this affect the castle in any way?

  2. Very good point about buyers remorse. There will be plenty. I’ll be surprised if they manage to collect 50% of the pledges – and of course, no telling how much of this was pre-regged and how many shills were in the audience (as is their modus operandi). 300 attendees – which I assume includes staff & SO of about 80 people between 3 orgs (2 of them “ideal) is a rather pathetic turnout. In 2009 at the Johnny Clegg event we had over 500 attendees – and way more than R1 Million was raised. That’s 5 years ago – so this stat is rather pathetic.

    • I’d be interested to know how many of the supposed 300 attendees were Div 4 public. Anyone recall those events where a large majority of Joburg Org’s attendees was just a bunch of kids from Soweto who were enticed by ‘free food and entertainment’? Not forgetting their bus fares which had to be covered in advance by the Org’s FP…

    • 300 only attendees including SO and staff is a very poor stat, indeed.
      .
Granted it was the last night of the MV and many people are tired of dashing out every Saturday night in the cold of winter. Also, The Castle is not nearby for the Kensington crowd.
      .
But still, 300 – 80 or so of SO and staff = 220, attendees is putrid.
      .
Isn’t 80 SO and staff a too inflated number? Are there even as many as that. Only 10 or so, if that, at Joburg North; and as far as I know, the CLO hasn’t exactly expanded. It’s a skeleton staff they have there.

  3. The Johnny Clegg and Mango Groove fundraisers were fantastic! But only because of the artists! The poor chaps who really paid for it all need to be thanked vigorously! Being on staff at the time I had to have my game face on. Couldnt wait to sneak out once the artists finished up though. Felt sooo good getting away from Sandra De Beers beady eyes haha!
    .
Cameron Wade still pitching in I see. I liked him, kinda guy you would want with you while storming the enemies trenches. Pity he bats for the wrong side, he could be useful as a field auditor. Hope he smells the stinky blue cheese for what it is and breaks out eventually!
    .
As for the funraiser stats dont these poor boys see the massive downwards trend of every major stat LRH or COB made? They are loosing in every area besides the special make a new enemy for scientology stat! Howling, operatic and scorching affluence that one – eeek!!! Go Albert!

    • Hey SB, I think I was hot on your tail sneaking out of that Johnny Clegg event, which BTW was the best I’ve been to (because of the artist and because I got out without giving a cent!). I always had a whole battle plan exit strategy for these events: reconnoitering the room, locating the enemy, orchestrating my family to rendezvous at an agreed time and place by appearing to casually wander out as though going to the craphouse.
Of course, they twigged after a while and thereafter I just had to be rude. Old Starkey (Norman?) once collared me as I was leaving and loudly bitched on me for being disrespectful to local executives. That was another nail in the coffin for CoS for me – that it was disrespectful to walk out of an unannounced – and by definition dishonestly misrepresented – fundraiser???

      • I used to plan my exit from these things too. I would sit on the edge of my chair and wait for the ‘right’ moment and then leave as casually and as I could. I must say, I was never stopped. Probably because I never donated anything anyway!

  4. P.s the pic is PRICELESS!! Its all so
Monty Pythonesque. Spamaradiculous this fundraising nonsense isnt it. For the next parody lets use The life of COB shall we?

  5. The situation with the IAS is criminal beyond belief. Look in LRH policy for ANY reference regarding the IAS or fundraising. You will find NONE.
It was not formed by LRH, nor recommended. COB creeated it as a leach that sucks the blood and life and money out of parishioners with absolutely no accountability or transparency of where the money goes or what it is spent on.
The thousands of parishioners who have put a second mortgage on their homes and spent all of their pension/superannuation to add to the “war chest” of Scientology, or to move up the rungs of status and have their photo taken with COB, is horrendous.
The whole thing is ugly and the antithesis of what Scientology actually is.

    • Agreed Lana, one doesnt know whether to laugh or break down into retched sobs over the whole sordid mess! Its so unbelievable to the still ins they refuse to even look. Titanic all over again and this time no violins. Perhaps laughter does seem better after all. Better than tears or itchy palms seeking C4 explosives and armour piercing bullets! Emotions can run high indeed!

  6. This is the anthem of Miscavology (Beatles, 1960s)
The best things in life are free
But you can keep them for the birds and bees
    Now give me money
    That’s what I want
    That’s what I want, yeah
    That’s what I want
You’re lovin’ gives me a thrill
But you’re lovin’ don’t pay my bills
    Now give me money
    That’s what I want
    That’s what I want, yeah
    That’s what I want
Money don’t get everything it’s true
    What it don’t get, I can’t use
    Now give me money
    That’s what I want
    That’s what I want, yeah
    That’s what I want, wah
Money don’t get everything it’s true
    What it don’t get, I can’t use
    Now give me money
    That’s what I want
    That’s what I want, yeah
    That’s what I want
    Well now give me money
    A lot of money
Wow, yeah, I wanna be free
    Oh I want money
    That’s what I want
    That’s what I want, well
    Now give me money
    A lot of money
    Wow, yeah, you need money
    now, give me money
    That’s what I want, yeah
    that’s what I want

  7. Monthly debit orders, 2nd house bonds, borrowing from “friends”, regging Sea Org and staff, empty pledges and PR BS based off bogus quickly made up events where a handful of people are filmed to make it look like an UNBELIEVABLE win but it has no substance in the final count. I’ve seen housewives make more of a difference in a community. PR PR PR. Only the blinded will follow. And then fork out R10,000 for their 4th Student Hat with no hope of getting through their grades with only 2 auditors in the chair for the continental org. Criminal exchange per LRH. We’re happy and obliged to take your money dear public and we’ll be damned if we’ll feel bad about not getting you up the bridge after all look at our sacrifice and the bullied/motivated push and pull from our seniors and anyway don’t side track/introvert me – why aren’t you on staff or the Sea Org and you expect to go free? Bleet bleet you’re right I should pay more. And freedom never comes but the shackles are tightened and the chains pulled in and made a little shorter. And we’re all happy and causative because we all subconsciously knew there were outpoints which we chose to ignore and we were all so very causitive as we did it and agreed to it all that of course it’s the right thing to do. Look at those poor fools who chose to look and apply personal integrity per LRH and are now cut off from our tiny insignificant group that’s taking over the world. So glad I chose the right side.

  8. I would like to recommend a posting one day of how auditing in the Indie field actually works. My reason for saying this is, as an UTR I have now spoken to quite a few still-ins and heard nothing but rave reviews about the SRD. Literally nothing. Just as I refused to believe everything when I was still in the Cos I similarly refuse to believe everything on the outside, or that every one of these people is lying. I’m curious – but there’s absolutely no way I’m going to get it in the church. My issue is – does auditing even work without the ‘ethics presence’ or organisation of the CoS?
I used to think about why Flag could claim its auditing was worth 10 times what was delivered in class 4 orgs. While I now realise that claim is BS, the cognition I once had was that it was because it was so expensive you FOCUS. I even heard Victor Lopes once say the same thing – you talk damn fast at $7000 an intensive! There’s a whole structure around auditing (and I agree that’s probably the reason why the collapse of CoS is now occurring – too much mind control (ethics) and overheads (admin) driving up the cost).
But what is auditing like without all that – and can one do the SRD??

    • Sean,
I have been auditing almost daily since I left CoS in 1998. I’ve done it without a C/S, without an MAA or Ethics Officer, and without a Reg. What keeps me going? My own motivation. Nothing else is needed.
